8 o4 ^, X5 d/ p# n" Y3 s6 BHere's a little ray of sunshine - a really easy way to encourage your website visitors to add unique, topical content to your site.
5 g9 N" A# w2 I; JMore good content equals more traffic. More traffic equals more dollars.8 q6 I$ b6 G; {. M$ Z
It's not a forum. It's not a blog.

0 v8 w, q# o" r  L' L( ^Robert Blackstone's new script makes it easy for you to publish a form inviting comments at the bottom of every article.
' k/ g7 E6 Q1 \  @. z8 gIt's a bit like the comments form you've probably seen on Matt Cutts' blog and other blogs.

Robert uses this equation to explain the value of article comments:! L' A- y! l- {

* Article comments enable you to receive quick feedback from your readers, so you can easily see which of your articles strike a chord and which ones are flops. If one particular article is a raving success, you can publish more articles on that topic.
7 R2 W0 E4 y3 ^4 v! M2 o+ s9 F ! f& r, }8 ?# s1 w
* Your readers will interact with you more. They'll realise you appreciate their views. This is SO important. To sell or PREsell, you MUST make a connection with your readers. Encouraging them to have their say helps build a strong connection.
' D8 o$ @5 G% ]8 @3 p
0 y6 s) Q% o& V* N. s/ q1 R * Publishing feedback makes your site more interesting. It's not just YOUR opinion any more. You're creating a dynamic, "live" site. Because your site is more interesting, readers are likely to stay on the site longer. Search engines like sites on which readers stay more than a few seconds.
7 h7 i4 s. @$ ^) E# J3 S6 z * Search engines also love sites which are updated frequently. Your readers can help you "update" pages all over your site.

6 F3 ?+ f1 {1 W$ S  [6 R0 ] * Are you using PLR articles? Perhaps you haven't done quite enough rewriting to make them truly unique. If a few friends add comments to your PLR articles, this will help make your pages unique - another good thing from an SEO point of view.) s( q* h, P8 u- ]7 k5 c
0 x& p' @3 F. N$ O. _
* Many people enjoy helping other people - and some love showing off their knowledge. Allowing article comments satisfies both groups while improving your site.$ o! J2 `7 ?; p3 C

- p9 x. c7 N6 x3 z; \2 L; BMost blogs allow visitors to comment on posts. If you're using a content management system (CMS) you may already have a system which enables article comments.
0 Z8 G6 q# j: j3 V: d4 r8 S$ Y* q; tBut what about all the other ordinary sites?
6 z" p0 b% z8 K2 }( f7 YDo you want to go through the hassle of switching all your sites over to a blog or a CMS system? Probably not.$ k. s0 X- M8 M* ^0 Q1 n* k
With Robert's script, you get the benefits of user-generated content without the hassle of a complex site conversion.
: i( U0 I# R* x$ ^1 u! z8 jSeveral years ago, my friend Jim Reardon suggested I ought to introduce some way for readers to comment on my newsletters. At the time, I put his idea in the too-hard basket.
& U9 A/ Z7 m7 k9 V. s3 I0 pNow, six or seven years later, we've finally done it. We recently introduced a comments facility on AssociatePrograms.com and I love it.
. q# D) {$ i. G+ ^2 d, V0 u- mIt's fun writing a newsletter and then an hour or so later checking to see what readers think of what I've written.0 W9 H' A  k$ s/ d
On AssociatePrograms.com, I've chosen to moderate the comments. I've found that on average about one in every 20 or 30 comments is spammy junk not worth publishing.6 P4 E' Z4 w. ]9 q& n
Robert's script works in a similar way. It also has a few features which make it better than our comments tool, giving the site owner more choices. (Robert's tool wasn't on the market when we created our new system.)- N; b5 V; m4 X- }; M$ J
My experience with article comments is new and fairly limited, but already I'm a convert. 6 o+ S& ]% M  z
Here are two recent examples on our site.: b6 k( D$ W. ]0 b
We published an article on affiliate datefeeds:
+ v/ D/ S# m- f# KAn insider's tips on affiliate datafeed sites
: j) {6 {4 ^# ~1 nhttp://www.associateprograms.com/articles/434/1/Affiliate-datafeed-sites/ ?5 E4 D* A) p7 b4 D& o
Readers commented on the article, providing links to a couple of useful resources - DataFeedFile.com and FeedShare.com -  thus making the article more useful. (With Robert's script, you can choose whether to allow HTML, which would make links active. I've chosen not to because I don't want to encourage spammers hoping for a free link.) + [+ V5 L; R. y/ w
Another example is a newsletter I wrote the other day about how to be your own BS detector. My wife, Joanna, worried that readers would be offended, urged me to remove the term "BS". I went ahead - http://www.associateprograms.com/articles/493/1/Seven-ways-to-be-your-own-BS-detector" U. ^# W, F7 Y$ ], E9 X- w5 F
That newsletter has received 50 thoughtful comments, making the page much more interesting for readers. I'm very grateful to everyone who took the time to add a comment. I really appreciate the feedback.2 G9 x2 U7 b2 J1 I# C
If my next newsletter receives zero comments, I'll know I need to brush up on my writing skills.
1 @0 N1 n5 ~* `) QThe thing I like most about Robert's new tool is that it encourages the creation of genuinely UNIQUE, relevant content, written specially about your website. 3 ~4 }: ?+ j; z! u
